OM Ireland continues to work with a range of projects in local communities in the North West and the Midlands including...

Amazing Grace

Hymn writer John Newton penned Amazing Grace to describe his own spiritual journey, a journey which began after a violent storm in the Atlantic Ocean. When all hope was lost, Newton's ship found refuge in Lough Swilly, County Donegal, Ireland.

When OM Ireland Director, Mike Mullins discovered the historical link between the story of John Newton (writer of the famous hymn "Amazing Grace") and Lough Swilly in Co Donegal he shared this discovery with community leaders.

Throughout 2007, OM Ireland was involved in a range of projects to celebrate this historic link including the pre-screening of the film "Amazing Grace" in Buncrana, an "Amazing Grace" celebration on Easter Day (anniversary of John Newton's arrival in Ireland) and the production of a website and tourist brochure explaining the story.
