Painting a community muralOM Ireland places a strong emphasis on creativity and the arts as means of transformation within society. We have pioneered a range of programmes using the arts:

Community Arts Project - Buncrana, Co Donegal

Students from the Savannah College of Art and Design, in Georgia, USA worked alongside OM Ireland artist, Andrew Garvey-Williams to create four  murals that now adorn an empty warehouse on the shorefront in Buncrana, Co Donegal.

Working out of a town-centre studio, the artists explored the history and hertage of Inishowen and Lough Swilly as inspiration for their work.  The paintings depict important aspects of local history including the connection with Amazing Grace, the arrest of Wolf Tone and the story of Father Hegarty.

Andrew Garvey-Williams is now exploring new possibilities to serve the local community using his artistic gifts.

Theatre Presentations in Schools - Co Donegal, Co WestMeath and Co Roscommon

OM Ireland teams have written and performed colourful Christmas Theatre Presentations in schools across the northwest since 2005.  Following the move to Lacken House, Christmas Theatre presentations are now being offered in the Midlands.  OM Ireland teams use drama, puppets, music, conjuring and stories to explain the reason why Christians celebrate Christmas.

Performing Arts

OM Ireland team members Junior De Larina and Ruth Garvey-Williams are currently writing scripts and developing new materials in preparation for future performances.  New materials explore faith, life and reality for people in 21st Century Ireland and highlight timeless stories from the Bible using contemporary settings.  Watch this space for details of forthcoming performance.
