More than a property... more than a project...

Lacken House is about a vision... a vision to see lives and communities transformed in Ireland and around the world. This incredible property (itself a picture of transformation) was unexpectedly made available to OM Ireland in an incredibly short space of time. Now our headquarters in the very heart of Ireland, Lacken House is already providing exciting new opportunities for reconciliation, transformation and mobilisation.

Finance update

By the end of September 2009, we had received a total of €489,025.43 for Lacken House with about €30,000 of this being used for development of the office and property.

We want to say a special THANK YOU to everyone who responded to our May Day Appeal which raised €79,026.

Another €600,000 is owed to the previous owners. OM Ireland has agreed to repay this amount in December 2009.  We will look to raise these funds through gifts and through a mortgage or loans from other sources.

OM Ireland needs to raise an additional €75,000 by April 2010 to pay back the businessmen who gave us a loan at the time of the initial purchase.

The journey so far

  • In 2006, the OM Ireland leadership and board decided to re-locate the headquarters centrally to ensure the strategic and continued development of the ministry.
  • In March 2007, the owners of Lacken House in Co. Roscommon approached Mike Mullins offering OM Ireland the opportunity to purchase their 5 - acre property at the price of ‚€1.1 million (lower than a number of market quotes)
  • In February 2008, OM Ireland signed the contract and took possession of the deed thanks to generous gifts and loans.
  • In July 2008, Impact Ireland was hosted in Lacken House with 50 participants from 10 countries world wide. The Big Red Bus moves from Donegal to Lacken House
  • In August 2008, key OM Ireland team members moved to Roscommon. Work started on transforming the Bridal Suite into the OM Ireland offices. In September 2008 a new year team arrived based at Lacken House and working with the Big Red Bus. The main meeting room in the stable block was used as a temporary office while work continued on the office suite.
  • In October 2008, OM Ireland launched monthly world prayer meetings at Lacken House together with local churches from Roscommon and Athlone building unity and raising awareness of world missions.
  • In November 2008 the offices were completed and team members move in. OM Ireland celebrated the Grand Opening of Lacken House with friends and supporters from across Ireland. A plaque is unveiled which reads: "Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain." Ps 127:1

  • The OM Ireland team grows from 10 adults at the end of June 2008 to 21 adults at the end of January 2009 opening many new doors of opportunity and ministry possibilities. Lacken House hosts the Evangelical Alliance Ireland retreat as key evangelical leaders plan and pray through their strategy for 2009.

  •  The May Day Appeal raises almost €80,000 for the project.

  • By September 2009, the OM Ireland team had grown again with a total of 34 adults (27 staff members)!

What people have said about Lacken House

"We are so grateful to those who have been praying and giving and to those who have stood by us in this major milestone in our OM Ireland history. Like us, many believe that this property will enable us to be more effective as we seek to see lives and whole communities transformed".
- Mike Mullins, Director, OM Ireland
"The minute I drove up for the first time, I realised that it was a special place. It is truly a spiritual retreat and a place where I could really spend time with God. The facilities have been perfect for a conference and preparing for our mission before we headed out into the community."
- Joe Wilson, USA (Impact Ireland team member)
"We were blessed by your hospitality and hugely impressed by the wonderful facility that God has given to OM Ireland. During our time at Lacken House, the Lord led us to great clarity and focus for our ministry during 2009. We believe Lacken House will be a great blessing to the Irish church as you make it available in many different ways."
- Tom Slattery, Evangelical Alliance Ireland
