Irish people can serve with OM teams all over the world, using their gifts and skills to transform lives and communities. Sail on board on of OM's ocean-going ships, work in relief and development projects or find simple ways to express God's love in over 100 countries worldwide. Irish and international volunteers can also join our short term outreaches (one-two weeks) or one-year training programmes based at Lacken House in Co Roscommon. As part of their on-the-job training, OM Ireland teams serve with local churches in a range of community projects.OM Ireland's training programme has attracted more than 300 international volunteers over the last three years. "Coming to Ireland was the first time I had ever got on a plane. It was a bit nerve wracking. I did not know what to expect. But as soon as I met my team (four Brazilians, one American, one Canadian, two Germans and one Englishman) it was as if we had known each other for years. We felt like a family." "I was part of a team of six people working in Tullamore to run a children's holiday club. It was an amazing experience. One boy was a real trouble maker from the first day he showed up. He had several of us pulling our hair out but he kept coming back and really seemed to be enjoying it. On the last day he brought two letters thanking us for taking the time to spend with them in Tullamore! It was great to see the positive impact on him." - Joe, USA Want to know more?Learn about opportunities to serve in Ireland and serve worldwide. |
